ABOUT CARER LIAISON

Pat, Louise and Celia make up the Carer Liaison team. Our role is to provide a home visiting service to enable Carers and those they care for to have disability and carers benefit forms completed in the comfort of their own homes.

* Attendance Allowance is available to people over 65 who have an illness/disability and who need extra help with practical things like looking after yourself or getting about the home.

* Disability Living Allowance is the same as above but available for people aged 3 months to 65 years.

* Carers Allowance is paid to Carers who look after someone for over 35 hours a week and who earn less than the lower earnings limit per week.  Carers must be over 16 and not in full-time education.  The person you care for must get Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance care component (middle or high rate). If you think you may qualify please get in touch, benefits are complicated but we can explain more fully with a phone call.

Our other role is to give information to Carers and raise awareness of services to Carers.  You will quite often see us on the Signpost Information Bus outside supermarkets, in Stockport Precinct etc.  Please come up and speak to us.  If we can’t help immediately you can be sure that we will research and get back to you.
