ABOUT CARER RECOGNITION

Jennie Davies is the current Carers Recognition Worker for Signpost. Many carers don’t see themselves as such. They’re just looking after their mum, child, friend or partner and therefore often aren’t aware of the support that’s available to them. The job is to work with G.P.s and other healthcare professionals in order to identify these “hidden” carers. 

Once identified, they can then be referred to Signpost. They can also be given the support of their own medical practice, who can help ensure their own health doesn’t suffer as a result of their caring role, by offering annual healthchecks, free flu jabs, etc.

The referral process is simple and straightforward, requiring minimal information.
