We are delighted to have linked up with the Savoy Cinema in Heaton Moor to host dementia friendly film screenings.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our first Dementia Friendly Screening at the Savoy (in July). We are very excited to announce that our next screening is The Wizard of Oz. Some carers said they would prefer an afternoon slot in the future so the morning is less of a rush, so we will move the showings to the afternoon from September.

The screenings are available to everyone but have been carefully adapted to create a calm and safe environment for those with dementia, their family and friends.

A reminder of how Dementia Friendly Screenings are different…

  • Lights and volume will be left on low throughout the film and you are free to move around or sing along to Somewhere Over the Rainbow!
  • There will be extra signage and dementia friends staff/Signpost for Carers volunteers to help you on the day.
  • There will be a 15 minute interval and there is also a quiet area in the foyer for you to relax if a break is needed from the film.
  • We will have a reduced capacity to give you plenty of space in the auditorium.

The cinema is wheelchair accessible but places are limited so be sure to book in advance.
