All Stockport carers are welcome to join us for this delightful nature walk discovering fabulous fungi and other native plant and insect species around Etherow Country Park. Led by Signpost's resident nature expert Dave, this trip out is a chance to do something a little different, socialise with other carers, and enjoy the calming peace of the great outdoors.

On a gentle stroll we will be looking at those mysterious growths that come into their own during the autumnal months and help maintain a perfect balance in all environmental areas! Tales of Jelly Babies, Devil’s Stinkhorns, Fiery Milkcaps, Earth Potatoes and Witches Butter will be told as well as insight from a real expert into these fascinating structures.

We hope to offer some shared transport options to get to this event. Information coming soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Where do we meet?

A. Outside the café by 10am.

Q. Will there be food provided?

A. As the walk will span over lunch time, we are asking participants to bring sandwiches and a drink for a simple picnic lunch along the way. We will provide tea and cake at the end.

Q. Can I bring the person I care for?

A. Yes! If this would be a suitable activity for you to do together, the person you care for is welcome to come with you.

Q. It looks like a long walk, do I need to be very fit?

A. Although we will be out for a while, the pace will be gentle - more of a slow amble - so that you have time to observe the fungi, flowers and bugs all around you. You are also welcome to stay for as little or as long as you wish. Only normal levels of fitness should be required but you will be on your feet for most of the time, so you do need to have good mobility.
