The Wellbeing & Engagement service offers a chance to try something you have not done before, perhaps that you have always wanted to do, or to do something again you once enjoyed now you have some more time. It can support you to get out and about and join a local social group or activity, try some voluntary work or learn something new.

How does the engagement worker help carers?

There are all sorts of opportunities out in the community that carers can access, but it can be difficult to grab the time to find them and take that first step of getting involved.

That’s where the Wellbeing and Engagement Worker comes in. They can link you up with the opportunities that would benefit you most, keeping you connected to the community and feeling fulfilled beyond your role as a carer. The service is available for Stockport residents aged 18 and over.

What opportunities are available?

Your engagement worker can connect you to opportunities in areas including:

  • Employment
  • Volunteering
  • Health & wellbeing
  • Leisure activities
  • Community participation

The opportunities enabled by your worker will complement the support from the rest of the Wellbeing and Independence Network (WIN) which helps people to remain well and independent in their own home. The services – accessed through other organisations in the network – include short-term practical support such as shopping, cleaning and small jobs around the home and garden.
